After welcoming his daughter at SHN's Centenary Hospital, a Scarborough chiropractor was inspired to give back.

Dr. Anojan Sivalingam, chiropractor and owner of Muscle Movement Rehab, is giving back to the community that raised him. He and his family live just down the road from SHN’s Centenary Hospital, where his daughter was delivered about a year ago—a place that has made a lasting impact on his family.

“When my wife and I had our daughter, we received excellent care at Centenary,” says Dr. Sivalingam. “The nurses and staff were amazing and incredibly supportive. That experience made it even more important for me to give back to the hospital that gave us so much.”

Dr. Sivalingam’s clinic focuses on wellness, recovery, and improving mobility. “We help the Scarborough community live healthier, stronger lives,” he says. “I know how critically important it is to have the best health facilities close to home for families, children, and our community.”

SHN serves thousands of families every year. Across all three hospitals, more than 5,800 babies are delivered annually, and the emergency departments handle 221,000 visits in spaces built for only half that number.

Dr. Sivalingam’s gift will support the Paediatric Acute Care Unit and the Centenary Hospital Emergency Department Redevelopment through the Love, Scarborough campaign. These funds will help provide critical equipment, renovations, and programs to ensure children and families continue to receive exceptional care close to home.

“We’ve been so blessed, and I truly want to give some of the blessings back to the community and the people that have been so important in our journey,” says Dr. Sivalingam. “Being from Scarborough, I know how important it is to invest back into the community.”
