Advancing Breast Cancer Care
with MOLLI
Because of donor support, SHN acquired the MOLLI Marker in 2024—a wire-free, high-precision tool that helps surgeons locate and remove breast tumours more accurately.
Already, 156 patients have benefited from this innovative device, which reduces pain, anxiety, and recovery time. It’s a powerful example of how donor-funded technology is transforming care for over 600 breast cancer patients each year.
Scarborough’s First 3T MRI
Thanks to donor support, SHN is home to Scarborough’s first-ever 3T MRI. This advanced machine delivers faster, clearer scans and a more comfortable experience for patients.
Since arriving in early 2024, it has performed 7,285 scans, helping reduce wait times and improve diagnoses across the community.
New Facilities Open, Thanks to Donors
Improving Access to Mental Health Care
In June 2024, SHN officially opened a new Community Mental Health Centre in Scarborough. This centre brings together all outpatient mental health programs for youth 18-25, adults, and seniors in one accessible location. It is made possible entirely thanks to donors who were inspired to support accessible mental healthcare in a community-based environment.
Doubling the Size of Diagnostic Imaging
The Northpine Diagnostic Imaging Centre opened at SHN’s General Hospital in February 2025. This new space doubles SHN’s imaging capacity with centralized, state-of-the-art technology, an expanded Breast Imaging Centre, and two new Interventional Radiology suites.
