Our priorities for our Scarborough hospitals

Transforming Kidney Care
SHN has the largest nephrology program in Ontario. Your support will help us build new and expanded dialysis units, expanding our spaces to make sure we can care for our growing community.

Innovating Diagnostic Imaging
Our diagnostic imaging services are scattered across five different locations and the current space is outdated and can’t accommodate modern technology. Your donations will help us build the new 36,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Northpine Diagnostic Imaging Department.

Expanding Emergency Care
Our Emergency Departments are over double their intended capacity. Your donations will allow us to build larger, more modern EDs. Centenary Hospital will feature a “doctor at the door” model of care – a Canadian-first that will reduce wait times by 90%.

Evolving Mental Health
With your support, SHN will create a community-based Mental Health Hub at Warden and Eglinton. This outpatient hub will serve youth ages 18 to 24, adults and seniors, and offer programs and resources to manage and treat mental health challenges.

Donors power new robotic knee and hip surgery

Veluppillai Navacodi, a 77-year-old Scarborough resident, is one of the first to benefit from SHN’s VELYS surgical robot. This cutting-edge technology, funded by generous donors, enabled him to go home the same day of his knee replacement surgery with better flexibility and less pain.

SHN receives largest single gift from the international Chinese community

We are so thrilled to share that SHN has received the largest single gift from the international Chinese community. Thank you, Lord Au Bak Ling Family and the Au Bak Ling Charity Trust, for your $2M donation to the new Bridletowne Neighbourhood Centre.
