On September 13, 2024 – Taylor Swift’s lucky number – SHN Foundation and Organizational Development brought the Swift-inspired Friendship Bracelet trend to life at all three SHN hospital sites. This event kicked off a week of appreciation leading to World Gratitude Day on September 21. It was a reminder that showing gratitude doesn’t have to be expensive and that friendship bracelets are for all ages.
Staff from General, Centenary, and Birchmount came together to create personalized bracelets for their colleagues. Many gifted them to team members who always showed strength and support and had their backs during challenging times. For others, pre-made “Love, Scarborough” bracelets were available, serving as a meaningful token of appreciation from the Foundation.
Taylor Swift’s influence was strong, and some created Swift-inspired bracelets like “SHN Swifties,” “SHN Love Story,” and “SHN You Belong.” These creations aligned perfectly with SHN’s Love, Scarborough campaign, celebrating the resilience, grit, and sense of community that defines our hospitals.
Thank you to everyone who participated! Your small gestures made a significant impact, just as Swift’s music brings people together. Here’s to continuing this spirit of gratitude on World Gratitude Day and beyond!
The event was a huge success. By the end of “Friendship Friday,” more than 1,300 bracelets were exchanged across all three hospital sites, symbolizing gratitude and connection. This simple but meaningful gesture, combined with the personalized notes, brought our staff closer as we celebrated World Gratitude Day and the spirit of appreciation.
