Diagnostic imaging is often the first step in a patient’s healthcare journey, identifying the problem and informing the treatment options. SHN offers a full range of diagnostic imaging modalities across our three hospitals, with General and Centenary hospitals affiliated with the Ontario Breast Screening Program. However, our diagnostic imaging services are scattered across five different locations at the General Hospital, some of which are over 65 years old.
Your support will help build the new Northpine Diagnostic Imaging Department at the General Hospital, welcoming the most innovative and ground-breaking technology. It will combine all imaging services at General into one easy-to-access location, improving the patient experience.
The 36,000 sq ft concourse will be double its’ current size, and house a 3T MRI machine that can provide even clearer images for our physicians and radiologists. It also means a more efficient space for our talented healthcare teams to provide life-saving diagnoses.
This project is now underway after 20 years in the making thanks to the generosity of donors, and we were so excited to host the official groundbreaking in December 2022.
