On December 13, 2022, SHN Foundation welcomed donors to celebrate the groundbreaking of the new Northpine Diagnostic Imaging Department at our General Hospital. 20 years in the making, this is a historic milestone for SHN and Scarborough.
Thanks to our incredible donors, SHN will create Toronto’s most modern and innovative Diagnostic Imaging Department – right here in Scarborough. Many donors over the years have helped make this possible. The Northpine Foundation donated an incredible $20 million to SHN in June of 2022, with a significant portion supporting diagnostic imaging.
In recognition of their support, we will name the Northpine Diagnostic Imaging Department at the General site in their honour. Read the full story of Northpine Foundation’s historic donation.
The new 36,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art space will consolidate all of the medical imaging modalities at the General into one space. It will include an innovative breast imaging centre and dedicated suites for nuclear medicine, CT, MRI and ultrasound. It will also include a full interventional radiology unit with two procedure rooms, a preparation and recovery bay, and a dedicated nurses station.
We are tremendously grateful to all the donors who helped us reach this moment! We are incredibly excited for what lies ahead for our Scarborough hospitals.
