The Challenge
SHN is home to Ontario’s second-largest community hospital-based mental health and addiction program. However, our adult mental health outpatient services are located in multiple places throughout Scarborough, including satellite clinics that are not easily accessible to our staff, patients and community members.
Your Impact
Your support will establish the SHN Community Mental Health Centre in Scarborough, centralizing all adult outpatient mental health programs into one beautiful, safe, and accessible location. The Centre will serve youth ages 18 to 24, adults and seniors, and offer specialty clinics, programs and resources to manage and treat mental health challenges.
It will be a welcoming environment with direct TTC access at Warden and Eglinton, improving accessibility, breaking down barriers to treatment, and reducing stigma around mental health care.
This priority project is entirely funded by donors and shows the collective impact you, our supporters, can make on healthcare in Scarborough.
SHN will also consolidate all inpatient mental health services at Birchmount Hospital in the Orlando Corporation Mental Health Centre of Excellence. This will create an expanded, purpose-built Centre of Excellence that will improve the patient experience and make mental health care easier to access.
