The vision for the Philanthropic Councils is to create a voice for advocacy and diversity, developing memberships and a database of individuals that would like to be involved with Scarborough Health Network Foundation and/or Scarborough Health Network. Through information sharing and engaging in feedback and exchange, council executives act as an inclusive voice from a culturally diverse perspective. Specifically, each council cultivates events identified by its members and is responsible for identifying and soliciting prospective major gifts within the community, while also focusing effort on motivating advocacy and political movement.
Caribbean Philanthropic Council
Through community fundraising events and education sessions, in partnership with SHN Foundation, the purpose of the Caribbean Philanthropic Council is to bring awareness on how to prevent diseases prevalent in the Caribbean Community, while also funding the best health care for the Scarborough community. The Caribbean Philanthropic Council works closely with SHN Foundation’s Community Development team to determine strategies to raise funds to support SHN Foundation.

Chinese Council
In partnership with SHN Foundation, the purpose of the Chinese Philanthropic Council is to bring awareness on how to prevent diseases prevalent in the Chinese Community, while also funding the best health care for the Scarborough community. The Chinese Philanthropic Council works closely with SHN Foundation’s Community Development team to determine strategies to raise funds to support SHN Foundation.
Community Council
The Community Philanthropic Council is made up of an inclusive and culturally diverse group of individuals, working in partnership with SHN Foundation to fund the best health care for the Scarborough community. SHN Foundation’s Community Loyalty Program will be the main initiative planned by the Council, along with other campaign-style events or third party events in support of SHN.

The Innovation Council is made up of the best young minds and forward thinkers who cultivate a new generation of philanthropy. Working in partnership with SHN Foundation, the Innovation Council will pioneer new fundraising events to help deliver the best health care for the Scarborough community.

As a model of generosity, leadership and dedication; the Scarborough Women of Philanthropy Council encourages women to celebrate and be inspired by other women, while raising funds and awareness towards the betterment of health care in our community.
